As you stated earlier I already know which ingredients I want to work with, I am only looking for assistance specifically with how to mix ingredients and long shelf life. If you are in America there are less requirements. The company is based in UK but they have formulators worldwide and they would get you in contact with an US based formulator as long as I know.

Hi, I wanted to ask you a favor. I am looking for an antibacterial moisturizer liquid soap formulation. Maybe you have one that I could try. I don’t need an all natural mixing oils and all jut a nice formulation.

Which antibacterial ingredient were you thinking to add?
I ask cause there are two options:
1) you can add an ingredient which has SUPPOSEDLY antibacterial properties (like tea tree eo) and state it on the label (if your country allows you to)
2) you formulate a REAL antibacterial detergent but in this case it has to be tested for this property and in this case it becomes more like a pharmaceutical product than a cosmetic.
Anyway the formulation is similar to any detergent or hand wash, you just add the antibacterial ingredient.

Hi, thanks for your answer. I will try that. What can I use to add a moisturizing effect on the first mal product without loosing the foraming action. I want the product not to leave your hands feeling dry but actually feeling nice.

I am not so conversant with cosmetics ingredients but i have some formulation from merk , croda etc . But you shall check the feasibility .Do you have scientific evidence for the benefit of these ingredients etc , And also for your customers to buy , there should visible change within 3 weeks so that they come again and again .
There must be something special which will convince them to buy your products or mainly the needs for these csutomers .Regarding lab , I am very far away from america. but if you need lab advice , search at Poland country website for cosmetic formulation advice may be cheaper or advise from itsall in my hand – they may have contact details.

I am a beginner having made simple soap recipes a few times. I want to make a simp,e shampoo conditioning bar – do you have a good recipe? I have found a few but have lots more ingredients than my simple sop bar so I am getting put off a bit… I am in the uk and cannot find BTMS-50 coz this seems to come up a lot – do you think a good shampoo conditioner bar would have to or should include this?

Yes that is a conditioning agent and it is needed. A bar looks like a soap but it is not. I have made only a shampoo&conditioner bar and it was better than the store bought ones (more conditioning) but I always prefere a liquid one. You can find the recipe on the blog 🙂
The ingredient is easily available in Europe, so no customs 😉

Your site is one of the most informative sources I’ve read. 🙂 since I am new to all this, I am still confused on where to start with all my ingredients and how to calculate the %. can you share an example calculation please.
My ingredients are:
1. CBD oil
2. Hylauronic acid power
3. Vit C Power
The goal is to have an effective amount of CBD oil and supportive amount of vit c and HA, and the end product being a Serum.
your advice and help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Sally.
If you use the Vit C you cannot make a long lasting serum but you have to make it in the smallest amount and throw it after use.
Because of this small amount, I don’t use percentages but I just check pH and add water only until it reaches pH 3-3.5
Now, with Sodium Hyaluronate you can make a serum that you apply after you have done the Vit C treatment. I wouldn’t mix the two cause they aren’t that compatible.
Same goes for the oil: if you want a serum you don’t add the oil or you need a solubilizer.
Of course you need to add a preservative to the serum, and you are good to go! 🙂
If you wanted to use both HA and oil you could make a cream (so using emulsifiers), but still not with the Vit C.

Hai, Your blog is very useful and accurate. I want to ask you a favour. I want to knock off a formula, Iso-urea body milk La roche posay. I need your help in doing that. How to know when to add what and what percentage. You are an expert. I am ready to pay for your service. Please help me. My whole family and me have ichthyosis and this cream is very good at managing this. But Iso-urea in India is very expensive and we can’t afford to buy it from amazon. Please help us and other ichthyosis related skin problem individuals in India. Thank you.

Hello Vajra, I don’t formulate for skin conditions because I am not a pharmacyst. You need to find a pharmacyst with galenic experience who can formulate a lotion that is suitable for your condition.
I have posted a formula for an urea cream but that’s all.
Remember that urea can cause pH variations in the formula in time, so whatever formula you need to produce, needs a good amount of testing 😉

reading this blog was just an awesome thing i came across this morning. thank you so much for sharing. am trying to formulate a serum but after numerous failed attempts here i am. the serum includes ferulic acid and it seems to settle down in the serum and fragrance and vit e extract makes it hazy. for base i have used HEC and Guar gum. looking forward for your help

hello sist, i want to ask you about coffee scrub (sorry 4 my english). i just want to make coffee scrub use all natural organic ingrediant (coffee robusta, almond oil, grape seed oil, olive oil, organic shea butter, himalayan salt, vitamin E and cinnamon). my question is do i need water in my formula? i dont understant, should i add some water or not add water at all.

If you don’t add water it is easier.
I still suggest you add a preserving system because the scrub could come in contact with water when used (water can go into the jar).
