Mood-booster Bath Salts

Hello everybody! ๐Ÿ˜€

I made a promise in my last post so here I am with the new extra-simple (but effective) recipe.

Mood Booster Bath Salts

This recipe won’t be like the ones I usually post, and this is for a very simple reason: I just do not measure the ingredients for this one! ๐Ÿ˜€
So you just need to gather the ingredients and you are almost done! ๐Ÿ˜‰

The reason why I call it “Mood-booster” is that I make these salts when I feel little bit too tired (mentally or physically): they do really work for me! Is it the epsom salts (magnesium is known to be very good for muscles in pain and for mood ๐Ÿ™‚ ), is it the good smell which creates in the bath-room or is it simply that I feel I am taking care of myself in a moment when I really need it… I don’t know! What I know is that having a bath with these salts always lifts me up! ๐Ÿ˜€

You will need:
Epsom Salts (this is the main ingredient and close to the only one you need!)
Fragrance Oil of your choice (or a mixture of Essential Oils if you prefer)

Add them into a becher and mix them.
Pour them in a cosy jar and… tadaaa!
As simple as that! ๐Ÿ˜€

If you want to exaggerate, however, you can add these ingredients:
SLSA (powder surfactant: you need very few of it and you first mix it together with the fragrance oil; this is because the surfactant will emulsify your oil making it spread in the water instead of getting it only on the surface! It is a little trick ๐Ÿ˜‰ plus, if you add “too much”, it will make a few bubbles too! However I would suggest not adding more than one tea-spoon in a medium jar of bath salts)
bicarbonate and citric acid (if you mix them to the bath salts, let’s say one table spoon of both in a medium size jar of bath salts, you will get a little bit of special effects – read “fizzy” ๐Ÿ˜€ this is all…)
powder food colorant or natural colorants (here I have used a teaspoon of red rootbeat powder! In the first picture the salts are the ones in the green-cap-jar) – however do not add too much of it or you might stain your bath-tub… so be parsimonious! ๐Ÿ˜€
Bath Salts 2

Powder skim milk – I had a leftover powder milk which was hanging around for ages (and I am not sure it was even still edible) so I decided to add it to my salts and I liked the results! (in the first picture the salts where I used powder milk are in the purple-cap-jar).

– I wouldn’t add dry flowers – I have read many recipes online where people just cannot help adding dry flowers into their bath salts and actually, the first time I made bath salts, I decided to add some lavender flowers as well… however, I didn’t like the result at all! ๐Ÿ˜€ The salts looked great in the jar, the flowers gave that wonderful feeling of something rustic and “real”, but in the bath-tub they were terribly uncomfortable! ๐Ÿ˜€ They were all floating on the surface and I had to take extra-time rinsing them off of me when I decided to get out: not exactly the right ending for a relaxing experience. So, you are free to add them if you desire to do so (I know you cannot resist!!! ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ๐Ÿ˜€ ) but the responsibility won’t be mine! ๐Ÿ˜€

Was this easy enough? ๐Ÿ˜‰
Let me know of your creations (specially if you find something great to add in your bath-salts!!!)

Ciao! ๐Ÿ˜€
